A TV Cameraman was apparently attacked live on air by spirits as the Most Haunted series explored vaults under Edinburgh.
Stuart Torevell was left with scratches on his back after the bizarre incident on Monday night.
The scenes were so terrifying that the show’s bosses were forced to cut back to the studio audience.
Daily Record astrologer and Most Haunted’s resident medium David Wells was there when the drama unfolded.
He said: “We were all a little on edge because some of us had been having bad feelings and strange dreams, Stuart in particular.
“But when we got into the vaults, he became really distressed.
“To begin with it looked like he was being sick and he said he could taste blood in his mouth.
“He got himself into a corner where he pulled off his jacket and then his T-shirt.
“He said he could feel pain and his back was covered in scratches.
“Thankfully he is better now but he was pretty shaken up at the time and the scratches are still there for all to see.”
To mark the 21st live show, the Most Haunted team have spent the last three nights visiting under-ground sites in Edinburgh which are believed to be haunted.
Last night, Halloween was their final foray into the unknown.
But David reckons Monday’s experience under Niddrie Street was one of the scariest he has had on Most Haunted.
He said: “I am kept in the dark about the places we are going to hold vigils so I never really know what we are getting into.
“There are times when a place has a huge reputation for ghostly happenings and then we get there and not a lot happens.
“Then on other occasions we go into a place feeling completely comfortable and it all kicks off.
“We were all on edge going down into the faults and the results were extreme even by out standards.
“I would not like to go back there.
“Our historian Lesley Smith did tell us later that there was evidence of ‘dark arts’ or ‘satanic rituals’ having been carried out there and that is definitely in line with what I sensed.”
Most Haunted has been running since May 2002 and has become a huge hit.
The show has explored some of Britain’s most spooky locations trying to find proof of hauntings.
